Mark Hennick’s Pastel Paintings
The BASEMENT ART STUDIO
I started painting again in the early 2000’s. There was this street painting festival called “La Strada Dell Arté” in Kansas City. So I offered to design their web site. In payment I recieved an 8 foot by 12 foot sponsorship space to paint on the street. I was not sure I could do this but I’d painted years ago with pastels so I decided to give it a go. The festival lasted a couple years before sponsorships dried up. People that walked through the event had nice things to say about the art/images I painted on the asphalt.
I painted on the street for a couple years at the festival. It was great. So that rekindled the joy of painting for me. From December 2006 I have created a series of paintings that I will now show at various art festivals. The next series of paintings will begin in 2010 and I plan to paint a new series every year. Soon I will sell prints and originals online.
I’ve been painting in an unfinished basement of an 1800 square foot ranch house in old Leawood, Kansas. We recently finished a 480 square foot section downstairs to draw, paint, play Gamecube, air hockey and hang out in. This is great. My 7 year old daughter River is an artist too. So we’re going to crank out a ton of art.
I hope you enjoy my paintings on this web site. Contact me with comments and if you’d like to buy any original art or prints. Thanks.
